Pediatric Wheelchair Production
Many children with disabilities in Kenya are unable to go to school and their parents and guardians are confined to taking care of them on a full-time basis. The parents are therefore unable to engage in any economic activity due to lack of mobility devices such as wheelchairs that would provide their children with the freedom to move on their own and even go to school.
The need for pediatric wheelchairs is great. According to WHO, about 10 million kids need wheelchairs and few are able access the appropriate mobility devices needed.
Responding to the dire need for appropriate pediatric wheelchairs in Kenya, Hope Mobility International/Kenya partnered with Hope Haven International to assemble and manufacture the Hope Haven pediatric wheelchair in Kenya.

About Hope Haven KidChair
Wheelchairs provide persons with disabilities the mobility, inclusion, and care they deserve and need. Hope Haven provides quality wheelchairs that are safety-tested and tailored to meet the needs and size of everyone, giving people the opportunity to live a fulfilling life!
The Hope Haven KidChair was designed with combined efforts from engineering students at Dordt University and rehabilitation engineers and specialists. It’s created in two sizes and easily adapts to a variety of children’s shapes, sizes, and positioning needs. The KidChair was inspected by an independent evaluation firm called Beneficial Designs in Minden, NV. The equipment “cleared all requirements” for a person up to 130 lbs.
